Recognition of statehood ‘rewards Palestinian people’


The President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, has told the BBC’s Tom Bateman that he rejects the idea that recognition of the State of Palestine rewards Hamas.

France formally recognised a Palestinian state on Monday, joining other nations such as the UK, Portgual, Canada and Australia.

International pressure is ramping up on Israel over the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Gaza and settlement building in the West Bank.
