Palestinian and Israeli representatives address UN meeting

Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, and Jonathan Miller, Deputy Permanent Representative for Israel to the UN, addressed an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in New York.

Mansour said that he whilst he appreciated the statements of support from fellow council members, it was “not sufficient”.

“You have to act. You have to do something about it. You have to stop it”, he told fellow representatives.

Meanwhile, Miller called for the UNSC to direct their focus on dismantling Hamas and that anything less was “not urgency but hypocrisy”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his government’s plan to take over Gaza City, claiming it was “best way” to end the war.
