Belarus and Russia stage joint military drills


Belarusian and Russian forces are taking part in joint manoeuvres some 45 miles (72km) from Minsk as part of the Zapad 2025 (West 2025) military drills.

The countries say the operations are “purely defensive in nature” but they come at a tense time, with Russian drones entering Nato territory and the war between Russia and Ukraine raging, as Steve Rosenberg reports.
