Mamdani’s make-believe campaign: Letters

The Issue: Kyle Smith’s column unpacking Zohran Mamdani’s unrealistic campaign promises.

What a wonderful illustration of Baby Zohran Mamdani on Monday’s front page (“Zohran is toying with Big Apple,” Kyle Smith, Oct. 27).

I’d love the “Eat the Rich” part — if it wasn’t so true.

Mamdani will truly be eating the rich for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all his snacks in between.

This message is for all the mush-heads who are voting for Zohran: Nothing comes for free, and Mamdani can’t freeze rents.

President Trump already said he will not send any money to a socialist communist.

So, unless you want crime and chaos in the city, you would be a fool to vote for Mamdani.

I left Astoria and moved to Long Island, and I know many will follow if he wins.

Zohran Mamdani represents the ordinary, hard-working Americans that the rich ruling class has ignored and forgotten.

He’s given these Americans the one thing that the ruling billionaire oligarchs will never be able to deliver: hope for better days ahead.

Propagandists say he won’t be able to keep his promises, but his supporters are willing to give him a fair chance.

If the New York billionaires would agree to just meet him halfway, then there is no doubt that he will be able to deliver on his promises.

Zohran Mamdani represents that unique breath of fresh air that comes along only once in a lifetime, and it’s about time.

Mice get caught in mousetraps because they think the cheese is free.

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani promises “free” this, free that, free everything.

Think about the mice and their traps before you vote for this candidate.

Anne Marie Marsala

Garden City

Zohran Mamdani is a charismatic, young and energetic socialist who promises what ill-informed voters want and informed voters know will not work.

He doesn’t understand what his hero Karl Marx meant when he noted that history repeats first as tragedy, then as farce.

The farce about to descend on the Big Apple will provide no laughs for the city or the political party that endorses his municipal travesties.

The Issue: US military strikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats in waters off Venezuela and Columbia.

In the last few weeks, we have witnessed US military forces acting under direct orders from President Trump to make numerous attacks on boats allegedly ferrying drugs to the United States (“14 narco boaters ‘wave’ buh-bye,” Oct. 29).

Such tactics are not only necessary, but are the duty and responsibility of the sitting president, who’s sworn to protect the security of our nation and the lives of American citizens.

Trump has indicated that his current tactics may also include sending US troops to Venezuela.

Depending on his success in Venezuela, Americans must be prepared for the United States to make incursions yet again into Mexico to clean up the drug-cartel problem.

I applaud the president’s actions and stand behind him 100%, and I urge every American to do the same.

James W. Anderson

Fishermen and others who navigate the waters off Venezuelan shores are rightly afraid of being mistaken for narco-terrorists in this administration’s attempt to stop foreign drug traffickers.

Ordering preemptive strikes on boats far from US shores and murdering both suspects and possible innocents without due process are dangerous follies, as is courting retaliatory strikes upon Americans.
